Not a chatbot that writes a novel. One small change. One dialect. Commands you can actually send.

It knows which userland

On a switch you get IOS, PAN-OS, FortiOS or Junos. On a local shell you get GNU on Linux, BSD on macOS, PowerShell on Windows. Same bar. Right spelling.

Your key. Your model.

Paste OpenAI or Anthropic. Or point at whatever endpoint you already run. NTerm is not an AI subscription.

A brain that stays home

Logs, configs, prompts, tokens — nterm.db on your disk. The marketing site never sees a session.

Agents may look. Not touch.

Cursor and Claude Code search your KB over local MCP. Driving the live box stays in NTerm.

Folders, not a flat list

Name a site folder. That folder owns the tab strip. Switch to another site and those sessions stay connected in the background. Export the tree; passwords stay out unless you wrap a backup with a passphrase.

Vault, then go

Named creds. Drag a session onto the tab strip. Merge, Split, Quad. Dock the explorer or the AI wherever you want it. The session is still the product — AI sits on it, not instead of it.

Beta on purpose

Testing software. You own every packet you send. Read the terms, then open a lab sim and try a sentence.

FAQ

Is this another Cisco / PAN GUI?

No. Those are the boxes. NTerm is the console in front of them — SSH, Serial, Telnet — with a prompt that drafts native CLI. The vendors still get the language they were built for.

Do I need a cloud account?

No. NTerm runs on your machine. Paste an API key if you want a model behind the Do bar. Small lab tasks can run offline.

Can I use ChatGPT Plus or Claude Code as the engine?

Those are subscriptions, not APIs. Paste an OpenAI or Anthropic API key. Claude Code can still read your local KB via MCP while NTerm is running.

Is it only for network gear?

No. Open a local shell and it is your everyday terminal — Linux, macOS, or Windows PowerShell over ConPTY. Ask it about permissions, a stuck port, or a find you can never remember, and it answers in that machine’s userland rather than a Linux answer pasted at a Mac.

Will it type without me?

Writes always preview. Confirm, edit, or discard. If you didn’t see it, it didn’t go.
